Is someone watching you right now?
Intro:
The United States is gathering tons of data from its citizens through a slew of Internet Providers and Cell Phone Companies. It collects millions of something called Meta Data that includes things like when the message was sent, where the message was sent and to who the message was sent to. The reason they allow for this invasion of privacy is to counteract terrorism. The government has access to things like e-mails, texts, video, audio, and IM messages.
Pros:
- Allows for the Intelligence community to combat acts of terrorism whether domestic or over seas.
- Meta Data is deleted after a certain amount of time
Cons:
- Could be considered an invasion of privacy.
- Keeps tabs on who is associated with who
- Potential political backlash; Could make the US look bad
